For IT SSB contributors: new “clone” functionality

This news is for the IT SSB contributors who have the rights to post articles in the IT SSB (i.e. mainly IT service owners, SNOW functional managers and IT support staff). Extra functionality has been added to the IT SSB: you are now able to retrieve previous articles, create a duplicate which you can edit, and then submit the duplicate as a new article.   This will be particularly useful for items like Planned Interventions where similar interventions need to be reported several times over a few months. This new functionality saves you from having to start with a blank article from scratch every time.   This new functionality is provided via a new link (“Clone content”) in the “View” page of any existing SSB articles. To clone submissions, simply:

  • login to www.cern.ch/itssb and click on 'Find/ Edit Content'.
  • You will see all your previous submissions - click on the one you wish to clone and you will see a little button near the title saying 'Clone content'.
  • Click on 'Clone Content' and a new page will appear with the fields pre-filled.
  • Simply edit where you need to, and submit as usual.

At the moment, you can only clone articles that you submitted, not other people's. However this can be revised in time should there be sufficient demand.   If you see any unusual behaviour resulting from a clone, please report it via the form Feedback on the IT Service Status Board web site (IT SSB) (in the service portal).   Catharine Noble and Nicole Cremel, IT/DI (with many thanks to David Martin Clavo (GS), who provided the code to implement this new feature.)
