On 11 May, a new web based phonebook took over from the 16 year old XWHO directory. It provides access to basic contact information concerning people and services at CERN. A user-friendly interface allows searching for people or services by criteria such as first or last name, organizational unit and phone number.
All requests to the retired XWHO directory will be automatically redirected to the new phonebook until end of October 2011. However all users having hard coded links referring to XWHO are strongly encouraged to change them as soon as possible. More details about redirection can be found at the end of this article.
As of 11 May, the new Phonebook is accessible directly from the CERN Home page or via the URL http://phonebook.cern.ch/
Please note that the new versions of the phonebook will be released regularly after the initial production roll-out with one in June.

URLs redirection: Hardcoded links to XWHO will be preserved, by an automatic redirection to the new phonebook, until 31/10/2011. We strongly recommend you to change any hardcoded links using the examples below:
- XWHO inks containing a CCID value such as http://consult.cern.ch/xwho/people/642196 must be changed to: https://phonebook.cern.ch/index.html?id=PE642196
- XWHO links containing Firtsname and name such as http://consult.cern.ch/xwho/people?Jan+Janke must be changed to: https://phonebook.cern.ch//index.html?search=Jan+Janke
