Description:
The shared AFS-FILER service at the barn will be switched over from 1Gb uplink to 10Gb uplink. There will be a network disconnection of a few seconds. It should be transparent for NFS clients mounted with that "hard" option (default). Clients using the "soft" option will see IO errors if the interruption lasts more than 4 minutes. The only CIFS client (SmarTeam) will stop the service as a measure of extra safety.
Reason for this intervention:
After moving to a new filer, the SmarTeam users noticed of less-than-before performance. This has been tracked down to this 1Gb link. The changeover to 10Gb, already planned will be executed now.
