Java 6 and 7 plug-in disabled by default in Internet Explorer

Description of Service Change: 

Java plug-in for Internet Explorer will by default be disabled on all centrally-managed PCs for both Java 6 and 7. The plug-in was previously disabled by default only for Java 7.

User who require to run Java applets in Internet Explorer can re-enable the plug-in by installing the following package from CMF: "Oracle Java Enable plug-in for IE".

 

 

 

Reason for this change: 

Frequent security problems in Java Runtime Environment, which can be remotely exploited when the user visits a rouge web page.

End of public updates for Oracle Java SE 6.
