EDMSDB/CERNDB1/ACCDB hardware migration

Description:

The  EDMSDB/CERNDB1/ACCDB database will migrate to a different hardware on

                Wednesday 12 of December 2012.

The operation will last one hour from

                18:00 to 19:00

The database aliases affected by this move are:

                edmsdb accdb cerndb1 jacowdb smartdb-prod dosiv2-prod

If you use the recommended central tnsnames.ora file (https://cern.service-now.com/service-portal/article.do?n=KB0001211) this move is transparent to you.

However if you are using a local tnsnames.ora file, or if you have hard coded the database connect string in your code/application, you can already prepare for the move by checking if your database definition is pointing to physical hosts or not.

For this:

  • Check the database definition you use in the tnsnames.ora file
  • Check the hard coded database connect string in your application/code.

If these definitions refer to hosts named pdb1-v.cern.ch and pdb2-v.cern.ch, you are OK.

If these definitions refer to hosts named dbsrvd221.cern.ch and dbsrvd222.cern.ch then you need to change them.
