Description:
Microsoft patches and hotfixes will be deployed on:
~220 Hypervisors in the CVI service, hosting Virtual Machines in the Self-Service as well as in hostgroups dedicated to BE/CO, Engineering Services, PH/EDU, IT/GT, EN/ICE, IT/UDS, IT/OIS and IT/CS.
The upgrades will take place between 07:00 and 08:30, and involve a reboot of the hypervisors. The Virtual Machines hosted on those servers will be automatically suspended into a 'Save State', and will resume once the hypervisor has restarted (typically within 5 minutes). From the VM perspective this intervention is therefore largely transparent.
All Virtual Machines are expected to be back by 08:30.
Up-to-date information about which of the hypervisors host which Virtual Machine can be obtained from the VMM website (go to https://vmm.cern.ch -> "Manage my Machines" -> Click on VM name for details -> Look for "VM Host") or from the LANdb Network Database (http://network.cern.ch).
