Problems with E-Groups web interface

Date & time of incident:
Wednesday, August 1, 2012 - 07:20
Incident Description:

We are currently experiencing problems with the E-Groups web application (https://e-groups.cern.ch/). When logging in, users may arrive on a page which looks as shown below. If you get to that page, please refresh the page (e.g. by hitting F5 or pressing the "Refresh" button in your browser's button bar next to the URL text field) to get through to E-Groups. It may be necessary to repeat the refresh several times.

We are currently investigating why this happens.

Error message:

Error 403--Forbidden

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:

10.4.4 403 Forbidden

The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it. Authorization will not help and the request SHOULD NOT be repeated. If the request method was not HEAD and the server wishes to make public why the request has not been fulfilled, it SHOULD describe the reason for the refusal in the entity. This status code is commonly used when the server does not wish to reveal exactly why the request has been refused, or when no other response is applicable.

Workaround:

If you get to the aforementioned page displaying the "Error 403 - Forbidden" message, please refresh the page (e.g. by hitting F5 or pressing the "Refresh" button in your browser's button bar next to the URL text field) to get through to E-Groups. It may be necessary to repeat the refresh several times.
